Homemade mini gardens have become very popular nowadays as decorative accents for the home. The best part is the you can keep them indoors as well as outdoors, and very little maintenance is required. You need some artistic sense while making a mini-garden. Firstly visualise your garden in your mind and make a list of things that you want. Some of these are easily available at home or else you need to buy them. The basic things that are needed are large mouthed tubs or flat trays or round shaped bowls, drums made of porcelain, clay or even wood and mud, with some fertilisers mixed in it. Then think of the plants that you can plant on the tub, preferably bonsai plants that require little sunlight so that you can keep them indoors. To beautify the garden, you can add pebbles and stones of different colours, small toy house, sheds, fences etc.
